Ruth Stage is a contemporary landscape painter, who elects to work in traditional egg tempera on white gesso to create the fluidity of
light. This technique uses raw, milled pigments blended in egg yolk and was known initially in the Renaissance.
Her BA studies were at Newcastle University, followed by a post graduate degree in painting at the Royal Academy where she graduated in 1995. She has achieved many awards such as the Lynne Painter Stainer Prize (2013) and the David Messum Art Prize (2014).
