Dick Chappell was born in Derbyshire and studied at Goldsmiths College of Art in London.   He has worked in museum conservation and in teaching. He left London for Wales in the late 1980's and began an artistic journey towards a wonderfully atmospheric lexicon of landscape and coastal painting, representing the passing of time in space. His beautiful studies of the enigmatic coastal landscapes of Wales are collected for public institutions such as the Contemporary Art Society of Wales and the Glyn Vivian Museum, Swansea.
