MARGARET GREEN 1925-2003
Oil on panel, 6 x 9 inches, inscribed verso.
A typically small and intricate painting - a corner of a foggy garden - possibly in a London Square or a Suffolk view as Margaret lived and painted in both locations. Married to another artist - Lionel Bulmer - Margaret trained at the Royal College of Art during the war years where she won several prizes and scholarships. Margaret combined teaching at several art colleges with an active exhibiting career showing at the Royal Academy, the London Group, the New English Art Club and many provincial and touring exhibitions. The work of herself and her husband became famous at David Messum’s galleries for annual ‘Lionel and Margaret Shows’ which were much loved. Her work is in many public galleries and was purchased by the Chantry Bequest. £750. -
