A painter, born in Edinburgh, Charles McCall won a scholarship in 1933 studying at Edinburgh College of Art under S.J. Peploe and David Foggie and then in Paris. In 1938 he returned to Britain and began exhibiting at the RA, with the NEAC and the London Group. After service in World War II in the Camouflage Unit, he returned to exhibit regularly. He was to hold solo exhibitions in Britain, at the Leicester Galleries and Belgrave Gallery, showing intimate domestic interiors and urban scenes. Elected ROI and NEAC his work is in collection of Paisley Art Gallery and the GAC.
