Derek Mynott studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, 1946-1950, with Randolph Schwabe and William Coldstream. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and New English Art Club and was also a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy. Examples of his work are in the collection of the Tate Gallery, London; Aberystwyth University and the Government Art Collection.
The subject proved very popular and Mynott repeated the composition as a lithograph which was widely collected.
