Dame Elisabeth Frink was an established sculptor from the 1960’s when she was introduced to original stone lithography by Timothy Simon at the Curwen Studios. Frink quickly took to the new and expressive medium and extended her practice to producing prints on lithographic stone and then on zinc plate working the designs directly onto the medium, pushing inks around and creating textured surfaces.
Horses featured strongly, often in movement and expressing the duality of horse and rider, the masculine power of the horse working with her equally powerful male forms.
